Getting your P1s


You will get your P1 licence if you hold a L1 or learner licence once you have:

  • held your learner licence for at least a minimum continuous period of 12 months
  • logged at least 80 hours in your learner logbook, including 15 hours at night, and ensured your supervisory driver has verified your logged hours and signed the statutory declaration contained in the middle of the logbook
  • passed the P1 driving assessment.

You will get your P1 licence if you held an L2 licence before 1 December once you have:

  • held your L2 learner licence for at least a minimum continuous period of 9 months
  • logged at least 50 hours in your L2 logbook and ensured your supervisory driver has verified your logged hours and signed the Supervisory Driver table contained in the middle of the logbook
  • passed the P1 driving assessment.
